American Addiction Centers Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician in Slidell, Louisiana

Job Summary:

Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician licensed to perform High Complexity Testing as defined by CLIA.

As a certified, full-service medical laboratory, we serve a diverse group of medical and commercial partners including addiction treatment clinics, pain medicine specialists, corporate employment offices, psychiatric and behavioral healthcare providers, and many others.

Reports To: Medical Laboratory Manager or Toxicology Laboratory Supervisor

Job Duties:

  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results;

  • Maintain records which demonstrate the proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens

  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance;

  • Follow the laboratory's policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory 's established acceptable levels of performance;

  • Be able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the appropriate supervisor;

  • Document all corrective action taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory 's established performance specifications;

  • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals;

  • Design and update procedures to promote maximum efficiency/accuracy of testing and reporting;

  • Stock supplies and monitor inventory;

  • Train new employees as needed ;

  • Communicate pertinent section information/issues to supervisor or other appropriate individual; and

  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

  • Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician, licensed to perform High Complexity Testing as defined by CLIA.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Willingness to assume responsibility and exercise independent judgment.

  • Ability to learn, reason and perform mathematical calculations related to job.
