- Under general supervision, the occupational therapist will evaluate and treat individuals with a variety of cognitive, motor, self-care, and musculoskeletal disorders. Major Duties: Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospital's strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives. Assess patients with a variety of cognitive, motor, selfcare and musculoskeletal disorders. Develop treatment plans based on the assessment results which include functional outcomes. Treat patient's specific deficits following the established treatment plans. Participate as part of an interdisciplinary team to aid in the improvement of the patient's functional abilities. Document interactions with the patient, caregiver and/or other health care workers accurately and timely. Educate the patient and/or their caregiver, and other healthcare workers regarding the patient's specific disorders. Recommend appropriate adaptive equipment for the patient. Required to communicate clearly and effectively with techs and occupational therapy assistants in order to carry out treatment plans with patients in a variety of settings. Provide occupational therapy services in a manner consistent with excellent customer service at all times. Communicate clearly and effectively with other disciplines, physicians and support personnel for the benefit of the patient and the department. Communicate clearly with other departments in order to fulfill patient and department needs and functions. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Preferred: Two years experience in a hospital setting as an occupational therapist, working primarily with adults, success in working in outpatient rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation and acute hospital settings. Required: Demonstrated ability to communicate information accurately in verbal and written form. A degree in Occupational Therapy as determined by the licensure board. Completed fieldwork in at least one setting that we currently provide(inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation acute). Licensure/Certification: Required: Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as an Occupational Therapist of Examiners. CPR for healthcare workers.
