Abacus Technology Technical Writer/Editor in Stennis Space Center, Mississippi
The Abacus Team is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to provide writing and editing support for technical and management documents for the National Area and Transnational IT Operations and Next-Generation Support II Program (NATIONS II) for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This is a full-time position.
Develop, edit, and format various types of technical and management documentation from information available from assorted sources, and edit/proofread deliverables. Gather, analyze, translate and compose technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.
Documents may include user guides, plans, processes, procedures, and knowledgebase articles. Provide assistance in: (1) Compiling management documentation, such as status reports and plans; (2) Management of the documentation repository; (3) Development and management of program-wide operational procedures and processes; (4) Develop templates for various types of technical documents; and, (5) other duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or GED certification required; Associate Degree or higher desired.
Experience/Skills: 1+ years’ experience as a writer/editor, including experience developing, updating, and maintaining technical documentation, such as user guides. Experience using advanced formatting techniques and developing document templates using MS Word. Some experience using Excel and PowerPoint. Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Must be a US Citizen. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified or Sensitive but Unclassified (SBU) information. Position may require a current/active Public Trust.
