Job Description:

Created after 9-11-2001, the Department of Homeland Security consolidated numerous agencies' data centers for central management. CSRA plays a key role in the Department's IT integration strategy through its Data Center-1 program.CSRA's DC-1 program is committed to delivering an efficient, responsive, and mature data center operation through excellence in service delivery, performance, and continual service improvment. • Linux/UNIX Subject Matter Expert with at least 5 years of multi-vendor UNIX engineering, implementation, and administration. • Familiar with LDAP, RHDS, SAML, Spacewalk, YUM • Participate in rotating shift/on call coverage, as needed to support organizational goals for 24x7 Data Center Operations. • Responsible for driving technical service resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. • Acts as a lead customer issue resolution engineer and takes ownership of all assigned tickets, including customer communication on appropriate developments and progress. • Coordinates with management to formulate highly complex technical solutions and keeps up to date on technical support products. • Identifies and implements solutions based on client needs. • Provides technical leadership to internal and external personnel on highly complex system installation and administration activities. Provides technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues. • Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness of cost and compatibility. Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies. • Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Initiates reviews as appropriate. • Develops strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. Monitors system maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate. • Coordinates with business development personnel on proposals and work estimates involving highly complex system administration projects and solutions. • Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems, processes and procedures. • Performs troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; documents system events to ensure continuous functioning. Utilizes standard tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes. • Works closely with team members on testing, upgrades and configuration of system and services. Evaluates and ensures changes are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; recommends revisions or changes based upon results. • Monitors operating system tasks, which includes memory and processor utilization. Conducts operational and possible faults checks. Resolves matters of significance and implements corrective course of action as needed. • Acts as a mentor to other engineers, as assigned. Three Must Have Skills *Experience with Spacewalk, RHEL6, RHEL7, and PULP *Experience with Vmware and working knowledge on how to navigate through vCenter *Understanding of Linux/Unix, TCP/IP networking, Unix shells, Linux application stack/tools, VMware vSphere 5.x+ Three Nice to Have Skills *Experience Managing LDAP and Kerberos Domains in a UNIX environment. *Managing linux virtual machines in a VMware environment. *Scripting experience in bash, ksh, python, perl, etc.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
